Wide receiver Kayshon Boutte held a press conference to discuss his recent trade from the New England Patriots to the Houston Texans. This event occurred one week after the trade, during which Boutte shared his thoughts on joining the Texans and the circumstances that led to his exit from New England.
Boutte had sought a trade during the offseason, primarily due to his wish for a more significant role on the team. He noted that the signing of Romeo Doubs to a four-year, $68 million contract and the acquisition of A.J. Brown through a trade involving first- and fifth-round draft picks considerably affected his standing on the Patriots.
As a result, he found himself as the fourth wide receiver in training camp, trailing Doubs, Brown, and DeMario Douglas.
Despite a successful 2024 season, where he recorded 42 catches for 719 yards and seven touchdowns, Boutte faced the risk of not being active on game days. Coach Mike Vrabel's comments following the preseason finale indicated this possibility. Boutte remarked that he interpreted Vrabel's assessment positively, choosing to concentrate on his future with the Texans instead of using it as a source of motivation.
