Milton, selected in the sixth round of the 2024 draft by the New England Patriots, demonstrated his strong arm during the preseason. He appeared in one regular-season game with the Patriots, where he impressed fans and coaches alike. In April 2025, he was traded to the Cowboys, participating in four games without a starting role, which provided him with essential experience as a developing quarterback.
After being waived at the end of August, Milton chose to rejoin the Cowboys' practice squad, reflecting his contentment with the team's trajectory. Schottenheimer and the coaching staff are pleased with Milton's decision to remain, confident that he will continue to advance his skills.
The Cowboys are scheduled to begin their 2026 campaign on September 13 against the New York Giants, with Jaxson Dart leading as quarterback.
