The City of Denton will close administrative offices to the public on Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day. A comprehensive list of facility closures and service adjustments for both Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, has been published by the city.
Administrative and Court Services
City administrative offices will remain closed on Friday, July 3. The Denton Municipal Court will also be closed on that day, though online options and automated phone payments remain available 24 hours per day. Normal business hours for the court will resume on Monday, July 6.
Libraries and Animal Services
All city libraries will be closed on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4. Regular hours will resume on Sunday, July 5. The Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center and Animal Services will be closed on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4. Regular hours will resume on Monday, July 6. Residents can report non-emergency animal-related issues by calling (940) 349-8181. Emergencies should be directed to 911.
Parks and Recreation
Several recreation centers, including Denia, MLK Jr., North Lakes, Denton Senior Center, and American Legion Hall Senior Center, will remain open on Friday, July 3, but will be closed on Saturday, July 4. Regular hours will resume on Monday, July 6. North Lakes Recreation Center will be temporarily closed from Monday, July 6, until its anticipated reopening on Saturday, July 25. The Quakertown Civic Center will be closed on Friday, July 3, and resume normal hours on Monday, July 6.
Aquatic facilities will remain open on July 3 and 4 with the following hours: Water Works Park from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Civic Center Pool from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and The Denton Natatorium from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Denton Tennis and Pickleball Center will be open on Friday, July 3, closed on Saturday, July 4, and reopen on Sunday, July 5. The North Lakes Driving Range will be open on July 3 with normal hours and will have modified hours on Saturday, July 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Airport and Utilities
Airport administrative offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4. The air traffic control tower will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the airfield will remain open 24 hours a day. Airport Operations is available 24/7 at (940) 349-7722.
Customer Service for utilities will be closed on Friday, July 3, and will reopen at normal business hours on Monday, July 6. Utility service emergencies should be reported by calling Utilities Dispatch at (940) 349-7000. Curbside solid waste and recycling collections will not be impacted by the holiday. All public safety personnel will be on duty during the holiday.
