Denton police are looking into a robbery that took place at a local 7-Eleven store on Friday morning. The incident occurred at the location situated at 1415 W. Oak St.
According to reports, officers received a call regarding the robbery at approximately 6:31 a.m. The caller, who works as a clerk at the convenience store, explained that the event actually happened around 4 a.m. but he could not contact authorities immediately.
The clerk stated that a man entered the establishment wearing a ski mask and carrying a bag. Upon approaching the counter, the individual pulled a knife partially out of the bag and demanded the contents of the cash register. The clerk reported that the entire exchange lasted only one or two minutes.
After taking the money, the suspect fled the scene on foot, moving east along Oak Street. The clerk provided a general description of the individual to responding officers. Surveillance video captured by the store showed the suspect crossing the street before entering the building.
While the clerk was not physically harmed, he told police that he feared for his safety during the encounter. Authorities are currently reviewing the footage and working with the description provided to identify the suspect.
