Quantrill Sets the Tone

Cal Quantrill delivered a commanding performance on the mound, pitching seven innings for the Texas Rangers. He allowed just two hits and struck out five batters while walking two. Quantrill did not allow a single earned run, earning the win to improve his record to 7-5. His steady arm provided the foundation for a shutout victory over the Tampa Bay Rays at Globe Life Field.

Seager Powers the Offense

The Rangers' offense found its rhythm in the middle innings. In the fourth, Austin Foscue singled to left field, driving in one run. The scoring continued in the fifth when Duran singled to right, scoring another.

The momentum shifted decisively when Corey Seager homered to right center for a distance of 403 feet. That two-run home run brought the score to 4-0. The Rangers added two more runs in the eighth inning.

Carter tripled to right, scoring a run, and then Burger hit a sacrifice fly to left that brought in the final run to make it 6-0.

Rays Struggle to Respond

The Tampa Bay Rays were unable to generate any offense against the Rangers' pitching staff. Shane McClanahan started for Tampa Bay and pitched five innings. He allowed six hits and four earned runs, walking one batter and striking out three.

He took the loss, dropping his record to 10-7. Casey Legumina entered the game and pitched three innings, allowing three hits and two earned runs while walking two and striking out two. The Rays finished with a record of 83-57, while the Rangers improved to 70-71.
