The Houston Texans have added wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley to their practice squad, addressing their need for depth at the position. Tinsley, who is 6 feet 1 inch tall and 26 years old, was previously with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he made eight receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns last season.
His move comes as the Bengals have a strong roster of wide receivers, leading to interest from various teams.
In light of the signing, Paul Dehner Jr. from The Athletic noted that Tinsley may find more opportunities for playing time in Houston, particularly after the Texans' recent injury to Jayden Higgins, who suffered a torn ACL. Tinsley now joins Lewis Bond and Josh Kelly on the Texans' practice squad, according to Sleeper affiliate Jacob Barzilla.
The player had a notable preseason in 2025, which helped him secure a spot on the Bengals' roster.
Tinsley, who went undrafted, has participated in 19 regular-season games, starting four of them. He is known as a possession receiver with solid ball skills, although he may not possess elite speed or quickness for separation. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein highlighted Tinsley’s ability to make challenging catches, especially in traffic, despite some athletic limitations that might restrict him to a zone-beating role from the slot.
