After being waived by the Texans on August 5, Tafuna was claimed by the New York Jets the next day. However, he was among the players released during the Jets' roster cuts. Now back in Houston, Tafuna is anticipated to strengthen a team with Super Bowl aspirations.
Throughout his college tenure at Utah, Tafuna amassed 108 combined tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 15 tackles for loss. He also recorded three fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and one forced fumble across four seasons. Analysts have pointed out that, while Tafuna may not possess all the ideal characteristics sought in interior defenders, his athleticism could be advantageous.
