Baylor University quarterback DJ Lagway is currently listed as day-to-day with an ankle injury, according to head coach Dave Aranda. His participation in the upcoming game against Prairie View A&M on Saturday will hinge on how he performs in practice this week.
In his debut with Baylor, Lagway completed 27 passes out of 54 attempts for a total of 333 yards. He threw two touchdowns but also had one interception in a close 17-16 loss to Auburn. The Bears missed a critical two-point conversion attempt late in the game, which played a role in their defeat.
Auburn's head coach, Alex Golesh, commended Lagway's determination, highlighting his ability to keep playing despite the injury. Golesh stated, "If you have any doubts about his toughness, just look at how he handled being banged up early in the game. He is a very tough football player."
Lagway, who transferred to Baylor after spending two seasons at the Florida Gators, was a highly touted recruit, ranked as the No. 3 player in his class. He initially started for Florida but entered the transfer portal following the departure of head coach Billy Napier.
In his last season at Florida, Lagway recorded 2,264 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions, including a game where he had five interceptions against LSU.
