The Houston Texans are looking to bolster their pass rush as they face injury challenges. On August 22, KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson reported that the team worked out defensive end Devean Deal, an undrafted free agent from TCU who previously spent time with the Seattle Seahawks this spring.
Deal had a notable college career, recording 176 total tackles and 13.0 sacks during his time at TCU and Tulane. The Texans recently signed linebacker Caleb Johnson but are actively seeking additional roster improvements due to injury concerns, including the absence of Jadeveon Clowney and Logan Hall, whose specific injury details have not been disclosed.
Previously signed by the Seahawks, Deal was released to accommodate new players. The Texans are in a comparable situation, having recently added veteran receivers Sterling Shepard and Zay Jones while placing linebacker K.C. Ossai on injured reserve. As the Texans prepare for their regular-season opener against the Buffalo Bills, the status of Deal remains uncertain, as he has not yet been signed by the team.
