The Philadelphia Eagles have added running back Jaydon Blue to their practice squad following his release from the Dallas Cowboys. Blue, a former fifth-round pick from the University of Texas, struggled with maturity issues during his rookie season, which limited his playing time.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer noted that Blue was unlikely to return to the team's practice squad, indicating a clear end to his tenure with Dallas.

In a corresponding move, the Cowboys have signed Emari Demercado, who previously played for the Arizona Cardinals. Demercado, standing 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 215 pounds, is expected to enhance the Cowboys' running back group. He averaged 6.5 yards per carry in Arizona and showed significant improvement in his rookie season, averaging 4.9 yards per carry and 9.3 yards per attempt in 2024.

The Cowboys' current running back lineup features Malik Davis as the second option and Hunter Luepke as a fullback. Israel Abanikanda has been recalled to the practice squad, while the status of second-year back Phil Mafah remains uncertain. The Cowboys will be monitoring Blue's performance with the Eagles, hoping he does not reach his potential as a rival player.
