The North Texas Irish Festival is leaving Dallas after more than four decades to establish a new home in Denton. Festival organizers confirmed the relocation on Thursday, stating that the first edition of the event in its new location will take place on March 13 and 14, 2027.
Dallas served as the host city for the festival starting in 1983. Organizers cited Denton’s art and music community as a better alignment with the event's goals than the previous venue. The festival describes itself as one of the largest Irish celebrations in the United States, with a mission focused on preserving and celebrating Irish and Celtic traditions through various cultural activities.
Sheri Bush, the entertainment director for the festival, highlighted the connection between the two locations. She noted that Denton is recognized for its support of music and creativity, values she said align with the festival's representation over the last forty years. Bush expressed excitement about joining the Denton community while continuing to attract attendees from across Texas and other regions.
Denton Mayor Chris Watts welcomed the decision to move the event to his city. He stated that the selection reflects Denton’s reputation as a leading destination for arts, culture, and community gatherings. The mayor added that the city looks forward to introducing visitors to its local energy and hospitality.
