H-E-B has indicated that its upcoming store in Denton will open before the end of 2026, a timeline that is earlier than previous projections suggested. The retailer began hiring staff in August and aims to launch operations in the latter part of this year. Mabrie Jackson, a spokesperson for H-E-B and Central Market, confirmed the revised schedule.

Earlier reports had placed the opening date in the first half of 2027.

The new grocery store will be situated along Robson Ranch Road at I-35W within the Landmark development. This master-planned community spans 3,200 acres and is designed to include 6,000 single-family homes, 3,000 multifamily residences, 900 acres of commercial space, and 1,100 acres of parkland and open space.

This location will mark the first H-E-B in Denton, although the site was previously considered for a location in Argyle.

Jackson stated in the initial announcement that the area is growing rapidly and that the company is eager to serve Denton and nearby towns. The store is expected to feature a fuel center with eight pumps and an automatic car wash. A second H-E-B location is also planned for Denton, near the University of North Texas, as announced in July 2025.

In neighboring Flower Mound, the retailer has purchased land in the Furst Ranch development following a parking increase approved by the town in May 2025. Flower Mound is also seeking a second H-E-B on its east side. A developer associated with that retail project believes it will be the first to open in the town, despite Costco considering a warehouse site one mile away.
