Denton-area volleyball players highlighted in weekly roundup

Several Denton County high school volleyball athletes were recognized for their statistical performances and tournament achievements during the recent week of play.

The UIL volleyball season is progressing as teams in the Denton area prepare for their district schedules. A recent roundup of local standout performances highlights several players who contributed significantly to their teams' records during nondistrict contests and tournaments.

Emily Redwine, a senior libero at Denton High, reached a career milestone by surpassing 2,000 career digs during a match against Ponder. She earned all-tournament honors at the Buckle Up for Lane’s Sake tournament in Nocona. For the week, Redwine recorded 122 digs, 19 aces, and 17 assists while helping the Lady Broncos finish with a 6-3 record in nine nondistrict games.

At Guyer, junior Brynlee Beiling contributed to a 5-3 record across eight nondistrict matches. Her weekly totals included 51 kills, 47 digs, five block assists, and 12 aces. In a five-set victory over Keller Fossil Ridge, she recorded 13 kills, 17 digs, and one block assist.

Sophomore Alexis Elsey from Argyle helped the Lady Eagles finish 11th among 66 teams at the Volleypalooza tournament. The team posted a 6-2 record, with losses to Wylie and Austin Lake Travis. Elsey’s weekend statistics included 72 kills on a .314 hitting percentage, 52 digs, and eight aces.

Ryan senior Aaliyah Ybarra posted double-digit numbers in multiple categories during a 3-1 win over Sanger, recording 20 kills and 29 digs. She also contributed to the Lady Raiders’ 4-1 tournament record, accumulating 52 kills, 61 digs, and seven aces in those matches.

Aubrey seniors Chloe Miller and Jentry Runion were named to the all-tournament team after leading the Lady Chaparrals to an 8-0 record and the title at the Nocona tournament. Miller recorded 85 kills, 81 digs, and 11 aces, while Runion added 32 kills, 76 digs, and 13 aces.

Ponder senior setter Zoe Dishman averaged more than 20 assists per game during a 6-4 week. The Lady Lions finished third in the silver bracket of the Nocona tournament with a 5-4 mark. Dishman recorded 37 assists and 11 digs in a win over Grandview and 28 assists and nine digs in a loss to Holliday.
