Denton police arrested a 37-year-old man following an incident on Friday night where he allegedly operated a vehicle while intoxicated with two minor children inside. The stop occurred at approximately 11:38 p.m. in the 2400 block of North Carroll Boulevard.

According to the police report, an officer responded to the location after observing a driver performing burnouts and traveling at high speeds. A burnout involves holding the brakes while accelerating, causing the rear tires to spin rapidly while the vehicle remains stationary.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, who had two passengers identified as his children, both under the age of 15.

During the interaction, the officer noted a strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. The driver reportedly admitted to consuming alcohol at the North Texas Fair & Rodeo prior to driving. Field sobriety tests conducted by the officer indicated signs of impairment, leading to the driver's arrest.

The man was transported to the city jail and booked on charges of driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, endangering a child, and reckless driving. His children were released into the custody of their mother.

In a separate summary of police activity, the Denton Police Department reported handling 455 service and officer-initiated calls and making eight arrests between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on the same day.
