Denton police arrested a 38-year-old man on Wednesday morning after radar equipment recorded his vehicle traveling at speeds exceeding 120 mph on East University Drive.
Officers were traveling westbound on East University Drive at approximately 6:19 a.m. when they observed a vehicle speeding. According to the police report, the vehicle approached the patrol car from behind and passed officers while weaving through traffic.
In-car radar devices clocked the vehicle at excessive speeds, topping 120 mph. Officers eventually caught up to the vehicle as it approached North Mayhill Road and initiated a traffic stop.
During the stop, officers informed the driver that he was being placed under arrest for reckless driving. The driver told police he was unaware he was speeding and expressed anger toward a driver in front of him. He reportedly offered apologies for his driving behavior.
The arrest was conducted without incident.
