The Denton County 4-H program is hosting an open house event on Sunday, August 23, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Denton County Administrative Courthouse located at 1 Courthouse Drive in Denton.
The gathering aims to introduce youth and families to the organization’s activities. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with current members, volunteers, and staff from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. The event highlights local clubs, contests, camps, leadership initiatives, and community service projects.
This year’s theme is "Passport to Discovery." Current 4-H participants will man informational booths throughout the evening to explain their specific project areas. Prospective members can ask questions to determine which programs align with their interests.
While often linked to agriculture, the curriculum covers a wide range of subjects. Available projects include photography, robotics, cooking, gardening, shooting sports, public speaking, fashion, natural resources, healthy living, and civic engagement.
"4-H is truly a program where every young person can find something they're passionate about," said Steven Baringer, the Denton County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development. He noted that the event allows families to explore clubs, meet volunteers, and observe how the organization supports youth development.
