The Texas Fine Arts Theatre in Denton has announced performances by Rufus Wainwright and Why? as the venue prepares to reopen in September after renovations.
The theater is expected to bring 70 mm film presentations to the Denton Square, along with special screenings. It also plans to host live entertainment, including concerts.
Wainwright, a Canadian singer-songwriter, is scheduled to perform a solo show at the Fine Arts on Nov. 15. The theater described the appearance as a “rare, intimate” performance, and the Denton show is set to follow his Dallas appearance the previous night.
Why? is scheduled to perform at the theater in December while touring behind the album *Oh Golly/Yes Lord.* The Cincinnati-based group is associated with alternative hip-hop and indie rock, and recorded its fifth album at Echo Lab in Argyle in 2011.
The two bookings are the first events the theater has formally announced for its reopening. Additional event details were not included in the report.
