Princeton, located about 37 miles east of Denton, Texas, is currently facing water conservation measures due to a malfunction at one of its water wells. City officials announced that repairs commenced on Thursday and are projected to take one to two days.
Although the reserve water tanks are full, residents are being asked to restrict their water consumption to maintain an adequate supply for household needs, public safety, and emergency services during the repair period. Restrictions include a ban on watering lawns, landscaping, or gardens, as well as filling swimming pools or hot tubs. Washing vehicles is only permitted when necessary for public safety or commercial purposes.
Cooke County Emergency Services indicated that while the estimated repair duration is one to two days, this could change. They do not anticipate any boil water notices at this time but will provide updates if the situation evolves. Officials have stressed the importance of minimizing unnecessary water usage to prevent exacerbating the issue.
