Paramount+ recently launched its biggest series, 'Dutton Ranch,' which was filmed on a 7,000-acre ranch in South Texas. The production took place in North Texas from August 2025 to March 2026, utilizing Dallas and several small towns to represent the fictional town of Rio Paloma. Notable filming locations included Ferris, Boyd, Cleburne, Grandview, Weatherford, Rio Vista, Mineral Wells, and Fort Worth.
Ferris, located about 18 miles southeast of downtown Dallas, played a significant role in the filming. The natural landscapes showcased in the series primarily feature the grasslands and mesquite of Parker, Wise, and Johnson counties, rather than the Rio Grande Valley depicted in the storyline.
The series premiered on May 15, 2026, with two episodes, and continued weekly through a nine-episode season, concluding on July 3. It attracted 12.9 million global viewers in its first week, marking the largest original series launch for Paramount+. The two-episode premiere also garnered 2.9 million viewers on Paramount Network, making it the biggest cable series premiere since 2023.
The cast includes Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, Ed Harris, and Annette Bening. 'Dutton Ranch' has been renewed for a second season, although a premiere date has yet to be announced. Texas's Moving Image Industry Incentive Program played a role in attracting the production, benefiting local businesses and crews.
