Corey Seager anchored the Texas Rangers’ offense with a multi-hit night, driving in two runs as the Rangers defeated the Chicago White Sox 11-2 on Monday, August 24. The Rangers established an early lead, taking a 1-0 advantage in the first inning when Adolis Garcia’s groundout allowed Nick Gordon to score. The pressure mounted quickly; in the same frame, Seager’s double scored another run, making it 2-0.
Texas extended their margin in the second inning when Seager reached on an infield single and scored, pushing the lead to 3-0 before the White Sox responded.
Chicago cut into the deficit in the bottom of the second inning. A home run by Andrew Vaughn followed by a run from Luis Robert Jr. made the score 3-2. However, the Rangers immediately answered in the third. Seager’s double to center field drove in two more runs, restoring a five-run advantage at 5-2.
The offense continued to produce in the fifth inning. Josh Smith homered to center field, extending the lead to 6-2. Seager added insurance shortly after with another double that scored a run, making it 7-2. In the sixth, Smith doubled and scored on a wild pitch, bringing the tally to 8-2.
The Rangers’ scoring did not end there. In the eighth, a walk by Josh Jung was followed by a run on a wild pitch, pushing the score to 9-2. The final run came in the ninth inning when Seager homered to left-center field, adding two more runs for an 11-2 final margin.
