Quarterback DJ Lagway has made the decision to transfer to Baylor after experiencing a challenging season at the University of Florida. Lagway, who was previously recognized as the No. 3 player in his recruiting class, entered Florida with high hopes of succeeding Graham Mertz.

After Mertz's injury in the sixth game, Lagway took over as the starting quarterback and led the Gators to a 5-1 record in their final six games, including key wins against ranked opponents.

However, Lagway's second season did not go as planned. He dealt with injuries and faced significant obstacles, including a surprising loss to South Florida, which marked Florida's first defeat to the Bulls. His performance against LSU, where he threw five interceptions, further impacted the Gators' disappointing overall record of 4-8, leading to the dismissal of head coach Billy Napier.

In search of a fresh start, Lagway entered the Transfer Portal and is now set to play for Baylor under head coach Dave Aranda. Tim Tebow, a former quarterback at Florida, remarked that Lagway needed a new setting to succeed and expressed optimism that this change would benefit him.

Lagway's debut game with Baylor will be against Auburn, a critical matchup for both him and Coach Aranda as they look to recover from a lackluster previous season. This game, scheduled to take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, is particularly significant for Lagway and Aranda as they seek a strong beginning to the season.
