Offensive guard Shadre Hurst has earned a spot on the Preseason AP All-American First-Team, as announced by the University of Houston Football team. This accolade recognizes his outstanding contributions and performance on the field.

Earlier this month, Hurst also appeared on the Preseason Watch Lists for the Lombardi Trophy and Outland Trophy. He has a strong connection with head coach Willie Fritz and offensive line coach Eman Naghavi from their previous time together at Tulane, where he received All-American honors and was recognized in The American Conference.

Since 2023, Hurst has recorded an impressive pass block grade of 80.0, placing him second among active FBS offensive linemen. He has allowed just one sack over more than 1,200 passing snaps, demonstrating his effectiveness and reliability. In 2025, he was acknowledged as the highest graded offensive lineman in the American Athletic Conference and ranked sixth nationally by Pro Football Focus.

During his time at Tulane, Hurst played a vital role in winning three conference titles from 2022 to 2025, maintaining a remarkable record of allowing only one sack throughout his four seasons.

The Cougars are scheduled to kick off their new college football season on September 5, hosting Oregon State at TDECU Stadium with kickoff set for 11 a.m.
