The Indiana University football team, ranked No. 6, is set to play its first regular season game against North Texas on Saturday, September 5, at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.

North Texas has announced that Tayven Jackson will be the starting quarterback for the upcoming season. Jackson, who previously played for Indiana University for two seasons from 2023 to 2024, is familiar with the Hoosiers.

A native of Greenwood, Indiana, Jackson had a standout career at Center Grove High School before playing at several colleges. In 2022, he was part of the Tennessee football program, and after two years at IU, he transferred to the University of Central Florida (UCF) for the 2025 season.

During his time at UCF, he achieved a career-high of 2,151 passing yards, along with 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.

Jackson's connection to IU extends beyond football; he is the younger brother of former IU basketball player Trayce Jackson-Davis, who announced on social media that he will attend the game to support his brother.

This matchup marks IU's first game since they celebrated their first national championship win in January.
