The New England Patriots have completed a trade, sending wide receiver Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans. In return, the Patriots received Jaylen Reed and a seventh-round draft pick for 2028.
At 24 years old, Boutte found himself with limited opportunities in New England due to a crowded receiving corps that included AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs, along with DeMario Douglas, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams, and Efton Chism.
Head coach Mike Vrabel stated that the trade would provide Boutte with a better opportunity to contribute to the Texans, as he might have remained inactive in New England without injuries to other players.
Boutte played in 14 games last season, recording 33 receptions for 551 yards and achieving six touchdowns. Vrabel acknowledged the difficulty of the decision to trade Boutte, highlighting his positive attitude and growth as a player.
As Boutte joins the Texans, he is expected to serve as a backup behind established starters Nico Collins, Xavier Hutchinson, and Jaylin Noel, although details about his specific role have yet to be clarified.
