The Houston Texans have made a trade to acquire wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots. In exchange, the Texans sent a seventh-round draft pick along with safety Jayden Reed to New England. This move follows the injury of second-year receiver Jayden Higgins, who sustained a torn ACL during practice.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans discussed the trade after a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers, emphasizing Boutte's potential contribution to the team's offense. Ryans referred to Boutte as a significant addition, especially given Higgins' absence. He remarked, "Adding Kayshon is a big get for us," highlighting Boutte's capability to make plays and his prior experience against the Texans.

Boutte, selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, has shown reliable performance during his tenure with the Patriots. In the 2025 season, he achieved 33 receptions for 551 yards and six touchdowns, playing a key role in the Patriots' Super Bowl run.

This season marked his second straight year with more than 30 receptions and 500 receiving yards, while he also increased his touchdown total from the previous year.

The Texans aim to fill the gap left by Higgins with Boutte, who is anticipated to work alongside Nico Collins as an outside receiver capable of making impactful plays. Ryans expressed optimism about Boutte's growth potential, noting that he is still a young player with opportunities for improvement.

The Texans hope that Boutte's established performance and motivation in a contract year will bolster their passing game this season. Further information on Boutte's role within the team and his performance in upcoming games is still pending.
