The Dallas Cowboys have brought back quarterback Joe Milton III to their practice squad following his release to make room for running back Emari Demercado. Milton went unclaimed during the waiver process but chose to return to the Cowboys, even with interest from other teams for their practice squads.

Dak Prescott, the team's prominent quarterback, shared his enthusiasm about Milton's return, noting the positive influence he has on the team's quarterback dynamics. Prescott acknowledged Milton's development during the offseason and highlighted the importance of providing support as he copes with the disappointment of losing the QB2 role he held in the 2025 season. "It means a lot.

I thought he would have been picked up in waivers. Fortunate for us, we got a hell of a player back and a guy that makes our room better," Prescott stated. He recognized Milton's likely frustration but encouraged him to channel that into motivation for improvement.

Milton was drafted in the sixth round by the New England Patriots in 2024 before being traded to the Cowboys ahead of the 2025 season. His preseason statistics showed notable progress, as he completed 29 passes out of 43 attempts for a total of 378 yards, achieving three touchdowns without any interceptions.

This performance marked a significant improvement in consistency compared to the previous season, where he played in four games with a 62.5% completion rate, throwing one touchdown and two interceptions.

With his return, Milton aims to build on his preseason success and utilize the competitive atmosphere to enhance his skills as a quarterback. Prescott's guidance will be essential as Milton enters his third season with the Cowboys, looking to make the most of his opportunity on the practice squad.
