The Dallas Cowboys have officially signed tight end Mitch Van Vooren, according to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. This move follows Van Vooren's release by the New England Patriots on August 18.
In Denton, where the Cowboys have a significant following, the team is dealing with injuries to several backup tight ends, which include D.J. Rogers, Brevyn Spann-Ford, and Michael Trigg. As a result, only two tight ends were healthy during their most recent preseason game.
Although Van Vooren has yet to make an appearance in a regular-season NFL game, he will have a chance to demonstrate his abilities in the Cowboys' upcoming final preseason matchup. Details regarding how the team plans to utilize him have not been disclosed.
