SHERMAN, Texas – Jonathan Mark Fleming, 41, of Denton, was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for committing three armed bank robberies in the Denton County area. The sentencing was announced by the Eastern District of Texas, U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Fleming pleaded guilty to bank robbery and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard Schell on June 29, 2026. According to information presented in court, the crimes occurred between November 2022 and February 2023. For each incident, Fleming dressed in all black, wearing black gloves, black ski goggles, and a black mask while brandishing a firearm.
Investigators noted that Fleming arrived at the first two banks in a red Dodge Challenger. For the third robbery, he used a Dodge Ram TRX truck. Law enforcement tracked the truck to its original dealership, where records showed Fleming had purchased it with a large cash payment and traded in the red Dodge Challenger.
Following the identification of Fleming as a suspect, a search warrant was executed at his apartment on February 23, 2023. Officers arrested Fleming, who was the sole occupant, and seized items observed in video surveillance, including a black and gray duffel bag, black clothing, a face covering, a gun belt with holster, and black ski goggles. Authorities also found a large sum of U.S. currency still wrapped in bank bands, multiple firearms, and two police radio scanners. Receipts indicated large deposits ranging from $19,000 to $40,000 into various bank accounts. In total, the defendant stole approximately $450,000 in cash.
