A traveling historical exhibit focusing on the American Revolution will be displayed in Denton County later this summer. The Flower Mound chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is co-hosting The American Revolution Experience with the Denton County Historical Commission. The event runs from Monday, July 27 through Wednesday, August 12 at the Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square.

Admission to the exhibit is free for the public. The installation features 14 display panels, including 12 national panels, a special section on Texas during the Revolution, and a chapter-specific pop-up panel. Visitors can also interact with digital kiosks that explore the people, events, and ideals of the Revolutionary War era.

The exhibit will open with a formal reception on Monday, July 27 at 5 p.m. The opening ceremony will include a ribbon-cutting, remarks from community leaders and chapter representatives, a color guard presentation, and guided tours of the display.

Samantha Barnes, the America250! Chair for the Flower Mound chapter, expressed gratitude to the Town of Flower Mound for its support. She noted that the celebration honors the sacrifices made by those who fought for independence. Barnes stated that the founders endured significant hardships, including harsh winters, loss of property, and the death of family members, to preserve freedom.

Flower Mound Mayor Cheryl Moore previously issued a proclamation for the town’s DAR chapter on June 15. Moore said the semiquincentennial milestone provides an opportunity for Americans to reflect on the courage and ideals established by the nation’s founders. She emphasized the importance of preserving this history to inspire civic responsibility and unity in future generations.

The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonprofit organization focused on historic preservation, education, and patriotism. The Flower Mound chapter described the partnership with Denton County as a way to bring this nationally recognized exhibit to North Texas as part of the broader America250 celebrations.

Details regarding specific attendance numbers or long-term plans for the exhibit beyond August 12 were not provided.
