The Denton Police Department documented 84 arrests and handled 2,695 service and officer-initiated calls during the week of August 10 to August 16, 2026. The department’s weekly blotter includes various incidents such as shooting threats, robberies, and a warrant service related to a crash that injured a pedestrian at a parade.
One notable incident occurred on August 11 at 1:52 p.m. on Scripture Street. A 29-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing a truck and trailer. According to the report, he purposefully struck another vehicle while attempting to flee the scene. He faced charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, evading arrest with a vehicle, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
On the same day, a robbery was reported at a business on East McKinney Street at 9:23 a.m. Police responded after an employee was allegedly shoved to the ground during the theft. Additionally, a hoax terroristic threat was logged at 9:27 a.m. on Malone Street, causing a local agency to go on lockdown after a caller threatened violence.
On August 13, employees at the Alco Corner Stop on North Elm Street reported an incident at 8:17 p.m. A customer allegedly pointed a gun at staff members and threatened to shoot them. The following day, on August 14, a man reported to police at 4:44 p.m. on North Bell Avenue that he was knocked unconscious by a stranger.
A second individual allegedly stole his wallet at knifepoint.
