The City of Denton has announced two separate community gatherings to mark the Fourth of July. Officials shared the schedule and logistical details via a Facebook post on Thursday.

The first celebration is the Yankee Doodle Parade, which will take place in Downtown Denton Square. Pre-parade activities are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. The main procession starts at 9 a.m. and will travel from the City of Denton Development Service Center at 401 N. Elm St., returning to that same location at the conclusion.

Drivers should note that the square will close to vehicular traffic at 6 a.m. on July 4. All vehicles must be removed from the area by that time to accommodate the event.

The second event is the Denton Noon Kiwanis Fireworks Show, held at the North Texas Fairgrounds located at 2217 N. Carroll Blvd. Gates for this event open at 6 p.m. Parking is available for $10 per vehicle. Payments can be made using cash, credit cards, Venmo, or Cash App, with proceeds supporting Kiwanis Youth Services.

Live music by the group Raised Right Men is set to begin at 7 p.m. The fireworks display is scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m. Organizers have suggested that attendees wear red, white, and blue clothing. Visitors are also encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, sunscreen, and water for the evening.
