Denton police are investigating the death of Terance Darnell Williams, a 28-year-old resident of Denton, who was found unconscious in an alley on West University Drive. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Williams, who was experiencing homelessness at the time of his death. Officers responded to the scene in the 300 block of West University Drive early on Monday.
A caller, who works at a nearby business, reported finding the man lying face down in the alley behind the establishment at approximately 1:44 a.m. The caller stated he was taking out trash when he noticed Williams and checked for a pulse, finding none. Medics and officers arrived shortly after and pronounced Williams dead at the scene at 1:50 a.m.
While officers noted that Williams had a nosebleed, they reported no signs of a struggle or suspicious circumstances.
Police spokesperson Lacy Fenn confirmed that officers had previously interacted with Williams. The caller also told officers that he recognized Williams as someone who frequently visited the area. According to the caller, he had seen Williams around 3 p.m. on Sunday acting erratically, running in and out of traffic, and nearly colliding with vehicles.
The caller suggested to officers that Williams may have been under the influence at that time.
