A Denton man reported to police that he was robbed at knifepoint following an encounter with two strangers in a ravine along McKinney Street. The incident occurred around 4:44 p.m. on Friday, according to a police report.
Officers responded to a call regarding suspicious activity in the 500 block of North Bell Avenue. An uninvolved bystander had contacted dispatchers after a man approached them, stating he had been robbed and that another individual was lying unconscious nearby. The bystander noted they were unable to see anyone requiring medical assistance.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the reporting man, who described the sequence of events leading up to the robbery. He stated he encountered two unknown men in the ravine who invited him to smoke from a pipe. When he declined and attempted to leave, he said one of the men tried to sneak up on him.
The man told police he struck the approaching individual twice, rendering him unconscious. He then alleged that the second man produced a knife and took his wallet. The reporting man expressed a desire to press charges for aggravated robbery if law enforcement could locate the suspects.
Police searched the area but did not find anyone matching the description or involved in the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
