Denton residents can attend the annual Yankee Doodle Parade on Saturday, July 4, beginning at 9 a.m. The procession departs from the Denton Development Services Center at 401 N. Elm St., travels south along Elm Street, circles the Courthouse on the Square, and returns to its starting point. Attendees are encouraged to wear patriotic colors. Later that evening, the Denton Noon Kiwanis Club presents its fireworks show at the North Texas Fairgrounds, located at 2217 N. Carroll Blvd. Gates open at 6 p.m. for this fundraiser supporting the Denton Kiwanis Children’s Clinic. While admission is free, parking costs $10 per vehicle, and VIP tables are available for $360. The Raised Right Men perform at 7 p.m., with fireworks launching at 9:30 p.m.
In Sanger, Freedom Fest takes place on Saturday, June 27, at 5 p.m. at Porter Park, 2201 S. Stemmons St. The free event includes water slides, carnival rides, a petting zoo, live performances, food vendors, and a musical fireworks display. Free shuttles are provided as parking is unavailable at the park.
Lake Dallas, Corinth, Hickory Creek, and Shady Shores jointly host Lake Cities 4th of July on Saturday, June 27, at 4 p.m. in Lake Dallas City Park, 101 E. Hundley Drive. Due to road construction, there is no parade. Live entertainment features Fleetwood Journey and Le Freak starting at 4 p.m., with fireworks expected at 9 p.m. Alcohol and outside fireworks are prohibited.
Lewisville’s Red, White & Lewisville event occurs on Wednesday, July 1, at 6:30 p.m. at Wayne Ferguson Plaza, 150 W. Church St. Part of the summer Sounds of Lewisville Concert Series, it features performances by Texas Flood and Justin Till. A drone show and fireworks sponsored by the Denton County Transportation Authority begin at 9:35 p.m. Complimentary DCTA shuttles are recommended due to limited parking.
