Texas Health Mansfield Stadium, a newly constructed facility costing $88 million, officially opened its doors to the public on July 1. Located in Mansfield, this 7,000-seat stadium is part of a larger multibillion-dollar development aimed at enhancing the city’s entertainment offerings. The first event scheduled at the stadium is a match featuring the North Texas Soccer Club on July 4.
The opening of the stadium coincides with heightened interest in soccer, particularly as the Dallas-Fort Worth area prepares to host the most FIFA World Cup matches in the country, taking place in nearby Arlington. Mansfield Mayor Michael Evans expressed optimism about the stadium's potential to foster excitement for soccer and stimulate economic growth within the city’s $2.5 billion entertainment district. He referred to the venue as the "southern gateway of soccer in the DFW Metroplex."
The stadium is equipped with four locker rooms, 10 suites, and 16 loge boxes, along with a club area that can accommodate 200 guests. It features a natural grass playing surface, designed to enhance the experience for both players and spectators.
Prior to its public opening, the stadium served as the practice facility for the Czech national team during the FIFA World Cup. Moving forward, the North Texas Soccer Club will make this venue their home ground, competing in the third tier of American soccer as an affiliate of Major League Soccer's FC Dallas. Notably, Ricardo Pepi, a former player for North Texas SC, is now part of the United States men's national team, which recently advanced to the round of 16 in the FIFA World Cup.
