Clement delivers in the 10th

Clement hit a two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning, lifting the Toronto Blue Jays to a 5-4 win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Daikin Park in Houston.

The decisive swing came after Urías scored on Clement’s homer to left, a 391-foot shot that moved Toronto ahead 5-3. It was the third home run of the game and gave the Blue Jays their first lead after they had trailed by three runs earlier.

Houston answered in the bottom of the 10th when Alvarez singled to right and Peña scored. Alvarez was out stretching at second on the play, and the Astros challenged, but the call on the field was upheld.

Houston builds early lead

The Astros took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on Altuve’s 401-foot homer to left. Houston added two more runs in the same inning, first on Walker’s double to left that scored Varsho, then on Wade Jr.’s single to center that brought in Walker for a 3-0 lead.

Toronto did not score until the sixth. Okamoto singled to center to score Straw, cutting Houston’s lead to 3-1. Sánchez then homered to right, a 398-foot drive that scored Okamoto and tied the game at 3.

Pitching keeps it level

Jameson Taillon allowed six hits and three earned runs over four innings for Toronto, with two walks and four strikeouts. Spencer Miles followed with two innings of scoreless work, allowing two hits with no walks and two strikeouts.

Mason Fluharty pitched one inning with no hits, no walks and two strikeouts. Tyler Rogers allowed one hit in one scoreless inning. Louis Varland worked one inning with no hits, no walks and one strikeout and earned the win, improving to 4-4. Chase Lee allowed one hit in one scoreless inning and recorded his first save.

Brown strikes out eight

Hunter Brown allowed three hits and three earned runs in six innings for Houston, walking two and striking out eight. Steven Okert, Bryan Abreu and Josh Hader each pitched one scoreless inning. Bennett Sousa allowed two hits and one earned run in one inning and took the loss, falling to 0-1.

The announced attendance was 27,751. Houston is 59-57 after the loss, while Toronto is 54-61 after the win.
