Bellinger powers Yankees comeback
Cody Bellinger provided the decisive spark for the New York Yankees, hitting a tiebreaking double and scoring in the seventh inning to help secure a 9-3 victory over the Houston Astros. The game featured significant offensive production from both sides, with the Yankees ultimately outscoring the Astros in the late innings to take the win at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
The Astros took an early lead in the first inning. Jose Altuve doubled to center field, allowing Carlos Paredes to score and put Houston ahead 1-0. The Yankees responded immediately in the bottom of the first.
Aaron Judge homered to right field, driving in one run to tie the game at 1-1. The Astros then extended their lead again in the top of the first, though the Yankees quickly equalized and took the lead in the bottom half of the inning. By the end of the first, the score was 2-2 after a series of hits and errors.
Scoring back and forth
The game remained competitive through the middle innings. In the fourth inning, the Astros scored twice to take a 3-2 lead. Yordan Alvarez homered to center field, and a ground ball into a double play brought in another run for Houston.
The Yankees answered in the bottom of the fourth, tying the game at 3-3. The scoring continued in the seventh inning, where the Yankees began to pull away. Bellinger’s double to center field scored two runs, extending the New York lead to 5-3.
