Imai Dominates the Mound
Tatsuya Imai was the architect of the Houston Astros' victory, delivering a sharp performance on the mound that kept the Miami Marlins at bay for the majority of the game. Imai pitched six innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits while issuing three walks. His primary weapon was his strikeout ability; he fanned eight batters, effectively neutralizing the Marlins' offense during his start.
The Astros' bullpen maintained the lead after Imai exited. AJ Blubaugh worked one inning, surrendering two earned runs on three hits, before Bennett Sousa pitched a scoreless frame. Josh Hader closed out the contest with a perfect inning, recording a strikeout to secure his 11th save of the season. The combined effort allowed Houston to hold on despite the late Marlins rally.
Power Surge in the Fifth
The game's turning point arrived in the fifth inning when the Astros' offense exploded for three runs. After Stowers doubled to center to score Lopez in the top of the frame, making it 1-2, the bottom of the inning saw Paredes launch a 388-foot home run to left field. The blast drove in two runners, including Peña and Alvarez, instantly extending Houston's advantage to 5-1.
This power display was part of a three-home-run game for the Astros. Earlier, Peña had opened the scoring with a 405-foot home run to left center in the first inning. That initial run came after an umpire review overturned the call on the field.
Spence also contributed with a double in the second inning, which scored Wade Jr. to make it 2-0 before the Marlins responded.
