Summer is winding down, and classes are about to resume for students across Denton. Here is when the new school year begins and the key dates families will want to mark, based on each district's official 2026-27 calendar.

Most of Denton is served by Denton ISD, where students return Thursday, August 13, 2026. The year runs through May 27, 2027.

Freshmen have an earlier first day, August 12, for orientation.

Parts of Denton are also served by other districts, including Krum ISD, Sanger ISD, Argyle ISD and Ponder ISD. Families near a boundary should confirm their child's district by address.
