Greene's Early Power Sets Tone

A first-inning home run by Greene provided the only runs Detroit needed to secure a 3-0 victory over the Texas Rangers on Saturday at Globe Life Field. Greene’s blast, which traveled 386 feet to right field, also drove in Carpenter, giving the Tigers an early 2-0 lead. The hit was the sole home run of the game and proved to be the decisive offensive moment.

Pitching Dominance Seals Win

Detroit’s bullpen and starting pitcher combined for a three-hit shutout, stifling the Rangers’ offense throughout the contest. Jack Flaherty earned the win, pitching 5.2 innings while allowing just three hits and no earned runs. He struck out five batters and walked none before exiting the game. Flaherty improved his record to 2-8 with the victory.

Tyler Holton followed in relief, pitching 0.1 scoreless innings with no hits or walks allowed. He recorded his ninth save of the season. Keider Montero closed out the game, pitching three perfect innings to earn his first save. Montero walked one batter but did not allow any hits or earned runs.

Rangers Offense Stalls

The Rangers managed only three hits overall and were unable to capitalize on any scoring opportunities. Cal Quantrill took the loss for Texas, pitching five innings and allowing two earned runs on three hits. He struck out two batters and walked one before being removed from the game. Quantrill’s record fell to 3-1.

Relief pitchers Tyler Alexander, Benjamin Peoples, and Chris Martin worked the final four innings to keep the game scoreless. Alexander pitched one inning with two strikeouts. Peoples recorded two outs in two innings with one strikeout. Chris Martin finished the game with one hit allowed and one strikeout in his inning of work.

Final Score and Records

The final score was Detroit Tigers 3, Texas Rangers 0. The game drew an attendance of 37,576 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The victory improved Detroit’s record to 39-50, while the loss dropped Texas to 45-44. The Tigers’ offense relied on Greene’s power and timely scoring to overcome a strong pitching performance from Texas’s relief corps.
