Standout Performance
Jacob deGrom delivered a masterclass in pitching control, striking out ten Washington Nationals batters while allowing just one hit and no runs over six innings. His performance earned him the win, improving his record to 9-8 for the season.
DeGrom’s ability to keep the ball out of the strike zone and generate swings and misses was the defining factor in a low-scoring affair at Globe Life Field.
Game Progression
The Rangers broke through in the third inning when Seager launched a home run to left center, measuring 382 feet. The blast provided Texas with a 1-0 lead that held until the eighth inning. In the final frames, Duran crossed the plate after Lopez hit a sacrifice fly to center field, extending the Rangers’ advantage to 2-0.
Washington’s Andrew Alvarez took the loss, dropping his record to 2-5. He pitched five innings, giving up four hits and one earned run while walking three batters and recording five strikeouts. The Nationals’ offense was unable to generate additional momentum against the Rangers’ pitching staff after the early deficit.
Relief Support
The Texas bullpen maintained the shutout with three scoreless innings of work. Jakob Junis pitched one inning, issuing two walks but no hits or runs. Chase Silseth followed with a perfect inning of relief, striking out two batters without allowing any baserunners.
