Winning Hit Defines Late Rally
Wyatt Langford provided the decisive moment for the Texas Rangers on Friday, singling to left field in the bottom of the ninth inning to drive in the go-ahead run. His hit capped a dramatic comeback, lifting the Rangers to a 7-6 victory over the Los Angeles Angels at Globe Life Field. Langford’s performance marked a significant contribution in his return to the lineup, as Texas overcame a substantial early deficit to secure the win.
Angels Build Early, Then Collapse
The Angels jumped out to a commanding 5-1 lead in the first four innings, capitalizing on early offense and Rangers pitching struggles. Los Angeles took an initial 1-0 advantage in the top of the first when Nimmo homered to left center. They extended that lead to 2-0 in the same inning when Burger singled to left, scoring Jung. The Angels pushed their advantage to 4-1 in the third inning when Duran homered to center, adding two more runs, while Trout scored on a groundout. Foscue added a solo home run to center in the fourth, making it 5-1.
However, the Rangers’ offense began to chip away at the lead in the seventh inning. Meckler singled to right, bringing Guzman home to make it 5-2. Schanuel followed with a single to center that scored two more runs, narrowing the gap to 5-4. Soler then singled to center, scoring Trout to make it 6-5, and Adell singled to left to tie the game at 6-6. The Angels’ bullpen could not hold the tie, allowing Langford’s ninth-inning hit to decide the contest.
