Tar Heels secure victory in Dublin
North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. led his team to a 15-10 victory over the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday at Aviva Stadium in Dublin. The win marked the opening game for the Tar Heels, who improved to a 1-0 record, while TCU dropped to 0-1 after the loss.
The contest featured back-and-forth scoring in the first half before North Carolina closed the game with a decisive field goal in the third quarter.
First-half scoring battle
The game began with a field goal from TCU’s Aeron Burrell, but the Horned Frogs quickly tied the score with a 31-yard field goal by Kyle Lemmermann. TCU then took the lead with a two-yard rushing touchdown by Jon Denman, followed by a successful kick.
North Carolina responded immediately with a nine-yard rushing touchdown by Jaylen McGill and a good kick, tying the game at 10-10 entering the second quarter. The second quarter saw no scoring from either team, with the game tied heading into halftime.
