The NFL has imposed a fine of $500,000 on both the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints due to a brawl that occurred during their joint practice earlier this week. The league emphasized the importance of sportsmanship, especially during these collaborative training sessions, where unsportsmanlike conduct can result in injuries.

Jerry Jones, owner of the Cowboys, acknowledged the seriousness of the fines but intends to contest the ruling. He expressed that the events during the practice, which included players removing their helmets and engaging in fights, do not represent the values of either team or the league. "That's pretty harsh, I mean, pretty stiff," Jones stated, reflecting on the league's position.

Should the fines remain in place, Jones indicated he would also penalize the players involved in the altercations. Linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku was noted for forcibly removing the helmet from Saints offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga and striking offensive lineman Erik McCoy.

Saints rookie wide receiver Brock Rechsteiner was involved in several incidents, including a physical dispute with Cowboys cornerback Caelan Carson and performing a German suplex on Cowboys safety Jalen Thompson.

Further information regarding the appeal process or possible player fines has yet to be disclosed.
