In preparation for their Week 1 game against the Buffalo Bills, the Houston Texans have waived a total of 22 players, notable among them being quarterback Brett Rypien and wide receiver Zay Jones. Other players released include defensive tackle Dominic Bailey and wide receiver Lewis Bond, along with linebacker Caleb Johnson and tight end Brevin Jordan, both of whom have previous NFL experience.

Additionally, the Texans have made other roster adjustments, releasing cornerback Bryce Hall and safety George Odum. They have also traded center/guard Jarrett Patterson to the San Francisco 49ers while acquiring tackle Nathan Thomas from the Dallas Cowboys.

The team has placed several players on the Reserve/Injured list, including wide receiver Tank Dell and safety Ja'Marcus Ingram, who are both designated for return.
