The Dallas Cowboys faced another incident during practice, just days after a joint session with the New Orleans Saints that resulted in both teams receiving fines from the NFL. This latest altercation involved tight end Jake Ferguson and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, reportedly triggered by Ferguson's response to a tackle, which led him to throw the ball at Overshown.
According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, the situation was quickly de-escalated and did not lead to further conflict. The earlier joint practice was characterized by intense physicality, with reports indicating that more than ten fights occurred, including pushing and shoving. Notably, Cowboys edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku was ejected for throwing a punch, marking his second ejection during training camp.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed his dissatisfaction with the fights, noting that they interfered with important practice time. He stressed the need for focus during training sessions, stating that the goal is to maximize practice efficiency.
With the joint practices now complete, the Cowboys are gearing up for their upcoming preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. Details regarding player conditions or strategies have not been disclosed.
