The Dallas Cowboys have officially cut their roster down from 91 players to the required 53 in preparation for the 2026 NFL season. This move comes as the team gears up for their season opener in East Rutherford while also working on finalizing their practice squad.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer described the roster cut decisions as particularly difficult this year due to the impressive depth and talent within the team. The initial roster features three quarterbacks, three running backs, six wide receivers, and a variety of players across defensive and special teams positions.
The roster includes Dak Prescott, Joe Milton, and Sam Howell at quarterback. The running back group consists of Javonte Williams, Malik Davis, and Hunter Luepke. Six wide receivers are part of the lineup: CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin, Jonathan Mingo, and Camden Brown. The team also has three tight ends, nine offensive linemen, and several defensive players across various positions.
Moreover, some players have been assigned to injured reserve or the physically unable to perform list, such as linebacker Marist Liufau and cornerback Devin Moore. Additional roster adjustments are expected as the Cowboys finalize their preparations for the upcoming season.
