A man and his dog have died after drowning in a pond in Denton, according to the Denton Fire Department. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, prompting a response from multiple emergency services.

Dispatchers received a call just before 6:40 p.m. regarding a drowning at a pond located in the 4800 block of Parkplace Drive. Units from Denton, along with crews from Argyle and Lewisville, arrived at the scene to assist.

Upon arrival, responders learned that the man had entered the water in an effort to save his pet. Firefighters immediately began searching the pond for the pair.

Officials confirmed that both the man and the dog were later recovered from the water. No further details regarding the identities of those involved or the specific cause of the initial distress were provided.
