The University of North Texas Libraries has made the Denton Record-Chronicle archive accessible through The Portal to Texas History. This digital collection preserves the longest-running newspaper in Denton, which traces its origins to 1882. The publication evolved from the Denton Chronicle and the Denton County Record before adopting its current name in 1915.

The archive contains over 20,000 items spanning ten decades of local history. Materials include obituaries, court reports, social columns, and classified advertisements that document the cultural and political development of North Texas. The digitization project was funded by a TexTreasures grant, a competitive program supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services to help libraries share special collections with researchers.
