Denton police activity between July 6 and July 12 included a robbery arrest, a theft from a person, an apartment burglary, and an ongoing investigation into discharged firearms.
On July 11, officers arrested a 36-year-old man early Saturday morning at 12:15 a.m. The arrest followed an incident at a convenience store located at 300 E McKinney St. Authorities allege the man robbed the establishment and was subsequently observed consuming the stolen alcoholic beverages.
A separate incident involving theft from a person was reported on July 8 at 8:23 p.m. A woman told police that on July 4 at 6:30 p.m., a man grabbed her purse from her shoulder as she exited Walmart at 2700 W University Dr. The theft included her medication. No arrests were listed for this incident.
Police also responded to a burglary at an apartment complex at 2000 Duchess Dr. The report was filed on July 8 at 5:42 a.m. The resident stated she left her unit around 4:30 a.m. and returned approximately two hours later to find her bedroom and bed in disarray. Items reported missing included designer handbags, perfume, prescription drugs, a laptop, and socks.
The woman informed officers that she had seen two boys standing outside her door while she was locking it, though she was uncertain if they entered the apartment.
An investigation into gunshots remains active following reports from the 400 block of Cross Timber St near Mill St. On July 6, the Fourth of July, officers received a call about gunfire. A caller reported hearing shots while a family member saw individuals fleeing a nearby party. Police recovered five spent shell casings in the street.
